Onsite energy supply for IKEA furniture factory

Development and construction of a small-scale CHP power plant with all-round energy supply

As a 100% subsidiary of IKEA, Swedwood Kft. is one of the most important furniture manufacturers in Hungary. Installed next to the factory unit in Sopron and producing a combination of heat and electricity, the gas engine system fully satisfies the local demand for energy. The construction of electricity and district heating pipelines totalling 2,220 meters in length was also part of the project.

  • Total installed heat power: 4,210 kW
  • Total installed cooling power: 500 kW

  • Annual electricity production: 32 GWh

  • Gas ensines: 2 x GE Jenbacher JMS 420, 1 x GE Jenbacher JMS 320 
  • Abszorpciós hűtőgép: Carrier 16JB

Network development

  • Construction of district heating pipeline at a length of 420 m
  • Construction of medium-voltage electricity network (10-20kV) at a length of 1,800 m
